I support Yengde's article in The Wire bcoz he has talked ABT Ethics. But few Appropriators r misinterpreting that article & bringing Rohit Vemula caste,Phoolan Devi caste & Nagraj Manjule caste. Then they r also confusing Muslims & Christians case.
They r wrong in saying that Muslims who get OBC reservatn is bcoz of their Dalitness. Plz chk the criteria of OBC reservatn & History of Mandal commission & History of Poona Pact & 429 SC List/Untouchable castes identified by Babasaheb Ambedkar in book- Who were the Untouchables.
I've always taken a stand -Dalits or Backward in a region may not be Dalits or backward in other region. So we cnt call them same in other states bcoz India was ruled by different kings n different type of ppl lived in all parts,hence these castes r met with different treatment.
Hence caste name could be same but they have different Lived experiences. Dhobi of Gujarat r not SC but Dhobi of UP r SC. Sameway the caste of Rohit Vemula was Dalit in his state bcoz his mother's caste was recognised as SC & Phoolan Devi belonged to Nishad caste(OBC in UP).
Can we call Nishad caste as Untouchables in UP,jst bcoz in other states it's SC? Nishad's in UP themselves dnt call 'Untouchables' as they dnt face untouchability. That's how difference in Lived Experience. Why such small thing cnt get into the big brains of Appropriators?
