I've seen loads of #footballindex traders asking this morning whether they should make transactions today before sell orders get implemented. And lots of people asking whether player values will go up or down as a result of sell orders being switched on tomorrow.
Could I make a general plea that people try not to generalise or simplify this issue - the truth is that different player prices are going to react very differently.
I expect some players with a large sell queue will fall in price quite quickly, we should all expect that given the supply & demand imbalance. But there are also lots of undervalued holds on the index where traders may put in higher sell offers which reflect this fact.
This could cause a mixture of fallers and risers in the short term. So please just give some careful consideration to that question; it's more nuanced that can be summed up in "everything up" or "everything down".
Yes there will be opportunities tomorrow and we will all be trying to take them, but there is no harm in sitting back and watching how the dynamics unfold. None of us know exactly what will occur so make sure you put an appropriate mental risk value to this level of ambiguity.
