Do you want to open a blog but don't know where to start?

In this thread I am going to explain:
∙ how to start your blog
∙ what platform you can use
∙ how to find subjects
∙ what tools to use

Read the thread below 👇
What platform you can use for your blog?

∙ Static Site Generators
Some examples are Jekyll, Hugo, GatsbyJS, NextJS

You have to build it yourself, maintain it and host it. It's very fast because there're no database queries to run, no templating and no processing requests
SSG blogs are great if you want to have total control over everything. You are responsible for designing it, building it, designing it, and maintaining it.

You have total control over it and full responsibility.
The 2nd category is:

∙ Dynamic Websites
A popular example of a dynamic website is WordPress. It's easy to get up and running with a blog.

Once you create it and choose a theme, your only worry is the content. With a dynamic website, you only focus on the content, more or less.
How to find subjects?

Write about something you like and something you use/want to learn.

Do you want to learn CSS? Write about what you learnt. Are you already comfortable with CSS? Write about what you know.

It's a lot easier to write about something you're interested in.
Always make sure your content is accurate and it doesn't provide inaccurate information. That's the worst thing you can do.

Also, try to keep a schedule. At first, go easy. Try to post weekly or bi-weekly. It creates a habit and it also helps people know when to expect posts.
What tools to use to improve writing?

Your content should be as good as possible. Thankfully, there're some tools that can assist us with writing.

∙ Grammarly - Very useful grammar checking tool with lots of features
∙ Hemingway Editor - It helps you improve your writing
Don't worry about stats

In the beginning don't worry about visitors, page views and so on. You're purely doing it to help yourself first, and also help others.

Everything that comes after this, it's extra. Drop the expectations and enjoy the process. You'll get results too!
Finally, my recommendations:

1. Buy a domain, and create a blog on @hashnode
You only have to focus on writing, and you are also part of a community.

2. Use Grammarly and Hemingway Editor to improve your English writing.

3. Keep a posting schedule if possible.
That's all folks! Let me know what you think in the replies. I hope it's helpful and I hope it helps you.
