Today's #WednesdayWritingTips looks at focusing as a writer, now summer has bid farewell and September is here.
How do you get your brain back in gear?
How do you get your brain back in gear?
1) Make a plan
Not everyone is a planner, but if it helps, work out a plan for the last few months of the year before they disappear. What would you like to achieve by end of September? By end of October? End of 2020? And what do you need to achieve this?

2) Be disciplined
The best way to get back into the swing of it is to get on and do it. Find a regular time, or commit to making the effort when you have a spare few minutes. Stick to it.
Ration social media and get planning/writing instead!

3) Empty your head
It's not the easiest time to be focused, with everything going on in the world. If it helps, before you have your writing time, write down your worries to empty your head, and help gain some focus.

5) Buddy up
Make yourself accountable to someone -either a writing buddy, crit group, or a friend. Whatever works! If you're prone to drifting, making a 'public' commitment can help keep you on track.

6) Be kind to yourself
Take time to relax and breathe. Don't feel every spare minute must be writing as we enter a challenging autumn. BUT if you want to achieve something, you do have to put the effort in. Find the right balance for you.
Good luck!
