I've had to report people twice using a code of conduct procedure and both times before I reported, I sent them the code of conduct and said please stop x it's detailed in the COC that this is not ok.
What would I have done if there wasn't a COC?

CW: sexual misconduct
Both times were very obviously sexual/asking for dates, commenting on my appearance, following me to my hotel room. Which is an easier thing to report. There are so many things that happen that are not as easy to define.

You might always hope that these things don't happen in your OSS project and you might think they don't but can you be sure just because you've never seen or heard them that they don't?
Existing as a marginalised person in OSS and tech is exhausting and frankly, dangerous sometimes and it's why I often just feel like tapping out sometimes.
