This is a very powerful thread about what it's been like to be a younger person during this pandemic. It made me think in different ways (even though I work with @CeliaMellow every day). I hate this rolling blame game. We have collective responsibility and that starts at the top https://twitter.com/CeliaMellow/status/1303579982267060226
I just wish we would sort out the testing. And stop falling prey to the idea that outsourcing is easy, a magic bullet. It's not. It can work, but in my experience it's difficult, and even good people with good intentions fall prey to the systemic issues with how it works
It all seems straightforward when you do the buying, but then the ill-defined work or wrong assumptions kick in, and change costs money and time, and at some point sunk cost fallacies kick in and people pretend it's fine. If all you see is the buying part then you never learn...
(or, worse, you assume that the people doing the delivery are somehow blocking and frustrating the intentions you had when you did the buying, when usually it's a systemic issue with poorly defined work set inside a rigid framework with voracious capitalists on the other side)
Anyway, I've got off topic a little! Less blame from the top, more accountability please
