Last of the #LSPvirtualcommunicarionsim for 2020 and lots of great learning.
1. Invest in good role players like @PRP_ltd and arrange a detailed pre brief with all the actors prior to starting discussing aims and objectives of the programme
2. Ensure your IT system and instructions are robust (removes stress for all involved) with clear instructions for faculty and staff
3. Take 10 min to brief your faculty and the actor with you on the day, discussing experience and scenarios and allocate lead debriefers for each scenario
4. Invest some time in the opening 30 minutes, alleviating fears, building psychological safety and confidentiality around the programme. Address hopes and fears and allocate scenarios appropriately
5. Icebreakers can be done online - perhaps each person onscreen to showcase something interesting they have to hand. Many participants are at home and so could share some personal artefacts of importance. Helps everyone get to know each other
6. QR code registration - ensures accurate register of attendees is taken
7. Share scenario as a group and address any questions there may be
8. Then ask those not in the scenario to switch off camera and sound and hide all non video participants leaving just the trainee and role player on screen .
9. Keep an eye on time and the debriefer to come back on screen when there is a minute’s notice
10. DEBRIEF - get everyone back on screen with sound and camera on leading a safe and supported debrief. Ensure everyone has listed their name correctly on their zoom/teams account so you can direct questions to indiciduals
11. For difficult scenarios, share contact details of a faculty member who can offer support/ advice.
