For anyone starting a #PhD, some advice:
- Set up dedicated space for #research and ensure everything is ergonomically correct (posture, etc.)
- Invest in a #reference management software like @mendeley_com (free!) and keep a record of papers downloaded (1/5)

@AcademicChatter
- Summarise #papers with a few short sentences to build a #database of relevant work for future writing
- Keep a daily diary of tasks undertaken, this will allow you to quickly track progress over months
- Develop an easy-to-follow file structure for #digital material (2/5)
- For #experimental data, develop a sensible storage plan and keep records of filenames and structures for easy future reference
- Use a cloud-based back up system like @onedrive or @googledrive for everything! (3/5)
- Make a 'to do' list for each day and put all tasks, even small ones, on it. Cross these out as they are completed
- If there are days where nothing is working, do something else! The good days will come
- Take #weekends off, your weeks will be more productive (4/5)
- Celebrate the wins! Submitted papers, successful experiments ... Take care of your #mentalhealth
- Maintain your hobbies and a life outside of your #PhD ... Don't compromise on that!
