Quite extraordinary watching all the people who insisted the deal was fantastic now present it as an affront, without the least acknowledgement of what they themselves were saying just months ago.
Not just politicians, but journalists too. Shifting suddenly to a position which is utterly incompatible with their views of the last 12 months, and acting as if nothing has changed.
The gamble is that the public, or at least their electoral supporters, do not care enough about truth or consistency to punish them for it.
May be true. But there is always an outside chance that people are growing sick of being constantly lied to.
