TROS still would not be a good movie if Rey got the parentage you wanted, if Ben lived, if Rose got more screentime. It's a fundamentally hollow and broken story that can't be fixed by anything short of a full-scale structural overhaul of the entire story from the ground up.
There is an edit that exists somewhere of a version of the movie that has these changes, I can pretty much guarantee it. JJ's process revolves around getting options for himself to freely retool the entire story in the editing room. It would be better, yes, but still not good.
Even with those changes, there's still no Stormtrooper Rebellion, no actual resolution of the First Order conflict that shapes the ST. There's still no tangible emotional arc for anyone except Ben because they'd still be on the empty fetchquest that does nothing but kill 2 hours.
The movie was always a Choose Your Own Adventure made to be assembled after the fact, constructed out of imaginatively poisonous nostalgia pandering, ushered by soulless executives with no understanding of the story's heart. It was built broken.
There is a *better* version locked in the Disney vault, never to be seen again. But it's still not worth holding onto. Your imagination does not have to be beholden to the word of the corporations that claim to own the myths. You own the myth. Tell yourself the ending you need.
