Every year we see the real apocalyptic conditions caused by climate change on the west coast and the heroics of the people who save those that they can, and every year the root causes are pointed at, directly, by activists. And it feels stifling and insulting when nothing changes
it's not as if the west coast doesn't have a lot of general moneyed privileges but the overwhelmingly democratic state & local governments are infuriatingly useless. they do not tax our rich, they do not cut our police budgets, they do not halt climate change actions.
This year is an escalation on last year which is an escalation on the year before and the decades prior and the alarm bells have been ringing. We know what is happening. We know the solutions. The resources are here. They're locked up by the mega-rich and guarded by the police.
The past few days have had me anxiously checking the fire watch scanners as the state i spent nearly all of my life in is burned and smoked into chaos. I don't know how to feel about that than fury. Every day I learn new depths of disappointment and anger. Great year so far
I don't believe in lost causes. I don't believe in hopeless situations. A lot of people are going to make it out of this year alive and I want them all to be as pissed about this year, as is right. A lot of things are broken right now. Either help fix them or get out of the way.
Felt moved to clarify this because if you feel moved to respond "yeah and we're fucked forever" keep it to yourself, I don't care to hear it
damn this bload up. read peter gelderloos, support the dismantling and abolishment of police in your communities, and join up with local leftist organizations https://twitter.com/videodante/status/1303108467197014017
