No. As a personal trainer, I promise there are people who struggle to put food on the table in the first place, much less have the time to use that food as fuel to work out. And that's just class issues at play. https://twitter.com/meseeuc0/status/1303542999469748224
You work 8 hours in a day and need to take the bus to work, you might not have time to exercise when you are done. If you have kids, that time becomes / less accessible. And money? Go to the store and price out a healthy diet. Oh wait, how do you know what that even looks like?
Most US residents don't have formal education about nutrition. So that healthy diet can look like anything. But we know fruits and veggies, right? Go look at the prices. Now go look at the prices of food that is more calorically dense with a shorter shelf life.
Let's fuck up the whole equation and add ability. All kinds of disabilities can and do inhibit your ability to exercise and eat nutritious foods on the basis of physical function alone. Now remember that we can legally pay disabled people less than minimum wage.
What does SSI pay out these days? In FL, it was a little less than $800 per month last year. Y'all have calculators on your phone. Subtract your rent from that. You want the lights on? Hot water? Cell phone? Daycare? School supplies?
And then you want to say "you make time"? Okay who's taking care of the kids? Who's making these healthy meals? Say that's all handled. How do you exercise? Personal trainers exist to help you learn. It's not cheap. What about gym membership? You can work out from home, sure.
What happens when you injure your wrist doing an at home workout with improper form? Average cost of health insurance in your area? Do you need that wrist to do your job?
Let's also look at eating disorders. You might not consider yourself mentally unhealthy in this way. You have a good relationship with food but you really Do want to lose a few pounds. Well someone on Facebook told you to stop eating sweets. So you start on a path of
restriction. You don't allow yourself to eat any sweets EVER because it's got to be the way, right? What happens if you end up eating a bit of chocolate? Maybe you decide to skip breakfast tomorrow to make up for it. This spirals faster than you think.
Fuck this mentality. If you want to exercise and you're ABLE to make it a priority, that's awesome. Exercise is one of the best things you can do for your body. If you don't look like fucking Shakira, that doesn't mean you don't have discipline.
This is what I mean about people being loud and wrong. Eat your boiled chicken breast and go.
