Over the last couple of weeks, many of my former colleagues at @republic have resigned. They have shown exemplary courage, put their careers at risk to speak up.
However a section of people is hell bent on villifying them for joining Republic TV. Here is what you should know.
When @republic was launched in 2017, we were all told that the venture will be different from @TimesNow. Arnab will create his own brand of journalism. He said, 'We are not right-wing, but will do right by the country and armed forces.'
We were a bunch of hopeful, young reporters/anchors who bought the idea. We were excited by the prospects of working with Goswami. However, it didn't take us long to realize what 'right' he was talking about.
None of us privately condoned the journalism Republic did, but were too low in the hierarchy to effect a change or direct channels' coverage. Some needed the job, others had financial and family obligations.
Some left within months, others a couple of years later.
Don't judge a man untill you've walked a mile in his shoes. These reporter who are finally putting their foot down and bringing you the truth, need your support and encouragement, not your judgment.
