As educators and parents struggle to understand the decisions made by @fordnation & @Sflecce it bears keeping in mind that they are not interested in improving or even maintaining the quality of public education - during pandemic or before.

For 30+ years, the @OntarioPCParty has had the goal of ending the public ed system as it exists and replacing it with a voucher system.

John Snobelen summed this policy up when he argued that the govt needed to "create a crisis" to move public sentiment towards change.

Essentially, they intended to bankrupt the system causing chaos until the public saw a multi-tiered education system as a better option.

They had to intercede because the system, when funded, is far to effective to fail on it's own.

Does that strategy sound familiar? Rising class sizes, forced online classes, inexperienced and @fordnation-sympathetic directors. All aimed at damaging the quality of our ed system.

Even the seemingly positive moves read more like PR than actual improvement. Take de-streaming, for example. Does anyone actually believe that @sflecce will provide the increased funding to make de-streaming effective in our classrooms?

Without funding to support all learners, de-streaming will likely fail, and cause a great deal of chaos as it does.

Given the moves that have harmed BIPOC students made by this govt (decreased grants for student needs, for example) this seems to be a PR stunt.

Given @OntarioPCParty's opposition to a successful public ed system, is the baffling 'planning' @Sflecce did in the past 6 months surprising? What incentive is there for him to help us succeed after all?

They ultimately want our system to fail.

The only trick is that they can't let the failure look like their fault. Hence @Sflecce's main focus these days - setting up scapegoats.

Educators, parents, even students have all been set up as potentially to blame for a failure @Sflecce certainlt seems to expect.

As always, educators, parents, and students will come together to try to hold our great system together. I'm betting we'll do well.

But never forget who set us up for chaos. When it is time to vote again, choose someone who wants our system to succeed.
