I just realized I have a saucy SW take that has been sitting in my drafts since, like, March that I am now ready to unleash upon the world.
God DAMN it it didn’t tweet in a thread like I thought it would ☹️

@ everyone who’s like “STAR WARS is about redemption!”

No it’s not. RETURN OF THE JEDI is about redemption. Vader’s story is about redemption.

Movie series are not obligated to repeat the exact same theme ad nauseam for eternity. Where did y’all even get this idea?
Goodness gracious, the stans have arrived.

"George Lucas said it was about redemption!" Y'all do realize when he gave those interviews he was referring to a much smaller "Star Wars"? The story hadn't expanded beyond the purview of Eps I - VI, that was all SW was.
Since then George went and created CLONE WARS, a series that isn't at all centered on themes of redemption, and everything about is early ST outlines don't put to a redemptive arc either. George wasn't a lazy artist who made it his business to express the same simplistic...
... moral theses in everything he makes. Each new film he wrote was a thematic challenge to the previous ones.

You would never have seen a character like Ben in his ST, he wouldn't be interested in doing Vader Redux in the first place.
