A quick FYI to all my science & science adjacent folks: blaming 'lack of science literacy', 'magical thinking' or invoking hard scientism is, for a number of reasons, not helpful in the current circumstances.
Why? 1) you are making racist assumptions about scientific literacy based within a deficit model; 2) your 'magical thinking' (rationality) is showing, & 3) trust is public health measures is being undermined all over the place - so that where your efforts could be useful.
In working to shore up community trust and connection to the required public health measures. Not in scoffing at people. Peace out.
