In our Liveable Streets webinar, Chairman Ian Green is introducing speaker @Urban_Turbo.
And now @Urban_Turbo starts his presentation.
He is showing examples of traffic filters, or 'connectors', from Waltham Forest.
. @Urban_Turbo has recommended this video produced by Oxfordshire Liveable Streets @OxLivSts
Now we're onto the government's Emergency Active Traffic Fund.
The presentation is coming to an end. Next, there will be a discussion with webinar participants.
Someone has raised the issue of 'bus gates'. @Urban_Turbo sees them as a city-wide traffic demand management initiative, complementary to local interventions like Low Traffic Neighbourhoods.
Someone asks: Won't bus gates push more traffic onot the Ring Road?
In Ghent they found that ring road traffic did increase, but overall journey times were *lower* because of reduced congestion.
Once again the question of "What about emergency vehicles?" is raised. The situation in Waltham Forest is that, again, travel times have reduced because congestion is lower. The Fire Service supports the LTNs there.
It's wrapping up now. Chairman Ian Green is summing up and thanking the speaker.
