I’m reading some feeling of trepidation and dread on the TL regarding Arsenal’s transfer activities going into the new season. Personally I feel they are unfounded. We are only two midfield players away from a genuine challenge, and the club is actively chasing targets.
We already had the basis of a good squad, and it seems lost on some fans that we have added three new players to last year’s squad without losing any valuable one. Willian, Gabriel and Saliba have come on board in areas of need.
Our goal keeping department is sorted, our defence the same, and in Lacazette , Aubameyang and Nketiah, we have as good an attacking threat as any in the league. There’s the convalescing Martinelli out there too. Two top midfielders would complete the squad.
By way of numbers, we already had more than enough defenders. Whether most are good enough is another thing entirely. However, the club still added Gabriel to the mix and welcome Saliba into the fold. That club wouldn’t neglect a glaringly bare midfield department.
As frustrating as the seeming dithering may be to fans, it is certain the club is in active pursuit of players in midfield. And sign those players they shall. There’s absolutely no need to think otherwise. Yes, it’s Arsenal, we’ve been there before and all that, but not this time
