There's a grass fire near the Ashland Dog Park, a residential area. The city of Ashland is telling people to consider evacuating.
I'm going down there to check it out. I left my husband with our disaster evacuation to-do list. He stepped outside, looked up and said "well that's the most ominous thing I've seen in my life."
We lost power for a bit. Lights just came back on.
Not gonna lie, it doesn't look good. Lots of sirens. People hitting the roads now.
I couldn't make it. The roads are blocked off. I have to go home and prepare to evacuate. My house is up wind of this. If you are in Ashland prepared to evacuate.
I can't tell you how frustrating it is for me to have a fire billowing smoke right in front of me and I can't cover it as a reporter. But I'd rather be prepared and get my family out safe if needed.
They're closing the I-5 freeway between exit 14 and 21, right where I live. OR-99 southbound closed.
No evacuations in Ashland city limits yet. I live in Talent, which appears closer to the fire. I'm packing my bags just in case.
Folks around here don't mess around. We all saw what happened in Paradise. Not waiting for evac orders; people are hitting the roads now, and so am I.
