1. For folks who seem to be confused on this - why is the lack of third-party candidates who might be significant draws important and something reporters are following/why it's something that deserves highlighting in the "why this isn't 2016 category?" Follow closely here.
2. The Trump campaign made elevating Jill Stein a key part of their summer/fall plans in 2016 when Manafort took over. In some key states, the third-party vote ended up being Trump's margin of victory there.
3. There is no such candidate this time, although there have certainly been efforts to make one. The Kanye West effort - which has a lot of Republican operatives working on it - is the closest. But he's currently not on the ballot in Wisconsin.
4. So, why is this an under-attended story line? Because when people are trying to understand the difference between 2016 and now, it's a key one.
