I am in Graham for a demo to protect jailed people from coronavirus and cops have arrested at least 3 people for being in a public parking lot and in a public street.

Multiple members of the Major Crimes Division out here arresting people for the major crimes of not wanting people to die in a pandemic

Another protester was arrested for standing on a public sidewalk where the cops asked us to stand because she asked where they were taking another activist. A cop said, "she can be with him now."

Now the cops are threatening to arrest people for cursing.

Earlier they threatened to arrest a demonstrator for temporarily taking her mask off, which is hilarious because Sheriff Terry Johnson has refused to wear a mask on multiple occasions & cops haven't said shit to racists who rally without masks every weekend.

Steve Marley, a white supremacist who assaulted an anti-racist on Friday, just walked through the parking lot and was not arrested. The cops said they arrested our people because we were protesting (which, again, is not illegal).

Ugh, so now the cops are saying Steve Marley went into the building to visit the magistrate and take out charges, presumably against the people he assaulted.

It's getting pretty hot out here and the protesters want to stand in a shaded grassy area next to the sidewalk. The cops have threatened to arrest protesters if we attempt to protect ourselves from heat stroke. I feel extremely protected & served right now.

We are outside in front of the magistrate's office trying to get our people out but they hauled them off in a van earlier and we're not sure where they are.

The anti-racists were arrested right in front of the jail, so I'm confused about why they got taken somewhere else and we now can't find them.

The cops used a mass arrest van to carpool one block. And now they're watching us wait outside the magistrate's office.

Now the cops are threatening to arrest us for waiting outside the magistrate's office. They are claiming we have no business here even though they are well aware that we are waiting for the friends they arrested.

The protesters found a "designated smoking area" outside the magistrate's office so now a bunch of people are lighting up.

Someone was able to speak to the magistrate and learned two of the anti-racists are there. Still no word on the other two.

Apparently the charges for standing in a public parking lot are trespassing, resisting a public officer, and misdemeanor rioting. How the fuck did they get 'rioting' out of literally just standing in a place as other people chanted?

This all started with a demo in solidarity with people facing coronavirus in Alamance County jails. Here are some demands written on balloons, including air scrubbers with hepa filters and 6 ft social distance.

Another activist released. Her charging document says she was arrested for saying "fuck." There are now 137 coronavirus cases in the jail. The sheriff's department potentially exposed a woman to a deadly virus for saying "fuck."

All anti-racists have been released. We are having a bit of a picnic outside the jail. Logistics are a little difficult with covid, but the community is great.
