Doctors be like
Boy, age 7: shows one symptom
Doctor: yeah he has ADHD
Girl, age 17: does a whole PowerPoint on why she believes she has ADD/ADHD based on years of research and self reflection
Doctor: hm Idk, I haven't even heard of that one symptom :/ maybe get a test?

Yes this is based on my own experience. Yes it's that ridiculous.
Oh, and I also left out all the years of parents and others calling me "lazy" or "stupid" and other, worse emotional abuse and never once suspecting I might be nd just because I (was forced to) do well in school.

I wish I could say this post is in hindsight but sadly I'm 17 and still undiagnosed and dealing with this kind of stuff despite my nd friends and a ton of research saying otherwise. I've even found some stuff that I've been doing since childhood that I recently discovered were
More obscure conditions related to ADD/ADHD that I've had a literal doctor say he's never heard of before and dismissing me until I get a test which, btw, I'm probably not gonna get soon because my mom doesn't want to spend the money. But thank you to all the people
Saying they were diagnosed when they were older than me, I feel like I'm not alone on this stuff. But honestly, this shouldn't be the norm. Afab people shouldn't have to go through 15-20+ years of emotional abuse before getting an answer. The bias is way too present.
