Travelling to the US tonight on @VirginAtlantic from DEL, first flight since Feb 9! Noticed they block off the seat next to an occupied seat as far as possible, which is a good move. Will be interesting to see first hand what long haul flying is like in the current environment.
So it has been a breeze so far. No lines at the entry. Quick check-in by Virgin, and thru immigration and security within 30 minutes from reaching the airport. Several flights operating, duty free fully open, but many shops and food court shut.
More photos... incidentally Virgin confirmed they can carry Indian passport holders only to London, and not beyond. Foreign passport holders can travel beyond to the US etc. Part of the bubble agreement.
The terminal entry process appears to have been simplified from 2 months ago. Now no longer one airline per entry gate, creating bottlenecks. Can enter from any gate like pre-COVID times. Kudos to @DelhiAirport for taking customer feedback and fixing that aspect.
Majority of passengers following mask discipline. However masks come off for many once they sit down, and also if they are on the phone. And too many have mask below the nose. Basic stuff. Staff too, mask below nose seen now and then. Like airlines, airport should enforce for all
Airport announcements keep reminding passengers to maintain social distancing. But no announcements on mask discipline.
Interestingly, no Aarogya Setu check or health declaration forms required to enter the terminal or for the entire departure process. It is back to the pre-COVID show e-ticket and ID (behind a clear window), and enter. No special forms for check-in or immigration either.
Scenes from Concourse B of Heathrow Terminal 2. Sadly deserted, but good to see an A380 boarding for Dubai!
