Most Routes without dual Band has max 75mbps speed, so first upgrade router to Dual Band (2.4 and 5ghz)

Forget internet speed, First test Route and your phone/Laptop speed by using Wifi Analyzer (open Source) app which shows local speed before IP https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vrem.wifianalyzer&hl=en_IN

Now Dual Band router with n or ac is must to optimize your network, which cost 4k to 10k.

Here is expectation in real world scenario from your Route to Device speed, which you can check on Wifi Analyzer App.

If Local Speed is up to the mark, then we will move on Channel

The app will show you Channels rating and Graph, you should prefer to use less crowded channels and non overlapping with your own Router/AP/Repeater or from neighbours.

Channel Selection can improve a lot.

All Bluetooth, Microwaves etc uses 2.4ghz which wont show here

Now little technical stuff-
Router : Which is connected to your ISP's device via Cat5 (Lan cable) - gives local IPs to your devices using Wifi

Repeater - It connects using Wifi Signal or main router and extend the signal further. Affects speed as cheap Repeater are 2.4ghz

Access Point : which is repeater with input LAN cable. (out put lan is optional in both). As its connected with LAN cable and then do Wifi extender, its more reliable. Any router can be created as an Access Point if your extended area as LAN connectivity from Main route.

SSID : Its name of Access Point / Route which devices reads. I prefer to keep all Router/AP/Repeater with same SSID, Pass and Key Type. So your end device will keep on roaming without changing Wifi name.

Also Router keep 5G band's SSID diff like D-link_5G and D-Link but i

I suggest to remove _5G from SSID, so you've same name with 2.4 and 5; devices closer to Router will use 5G (gbps port) but low coverage and devices in corner will use 2.4ghz.

not to forget that Signal changes your LOCAL bandwidth, DO NOT blame ISP. :)
