Circles by Mac Miller đŸ€đŸ•Š

A one of a kind experience (thread)
Circles was Mac’s sixth studio album. Also his first and potentially his last posthumous release.

This is by many considered his best body of work ever made.
Circles is a continuation of his 5th studio album Swimming.

“Swimming in Circles” is a concept Mac always wanted to make before his passing.
Jon Brion was one of Mac’s best friends. He produced Circles alongside Mac.

Jon managed the make the album sound the exact same way Mac would’ve wanted to sound.

He made it sound like Mac was there to produce it till the day it released. Jon is an incredible musician.
Circles details his struggles in life, and learning to move past his problems in order to become a better individual than his older self.

He showed a strong desire to develop psychological growth and healing throughout the project.
1. Circles

Mac opens the album by telling the listener about him having an aimless mentality towards life, feeling like his life is in a cycle that he can't effectively escape from.
2. Complicated

Mac here emphasizes on the fact that he’s extremely young to feel the way his head was at the time, and centers around how his life is too complicated to keep living with himself day by day.
3. Blue World

Mac here discusses about the hardships that surrounded his life, and going deep into talking about a lot of them, including Ariana Grande.
4. Good News

He talks about feeling no reprive from negative emotions throughout his everyday life, while the people around him just needing him to say that he's doing okay, needing him to avoid the negative emotion he constantly has. How good news is all they wanna hear...
5. I Can See

Here, Mac is explaining to those around him that he can finally see his predicament of his own self from an outside perspective. How he doesn’t need anyone to see the wrong things he was doing throughout his life.
6. Everybody

Mac talks about the fact that everybody’s gonna die soon. We all live, but we all eventually meet our fall down. This is an incredible depressing track taking into account the fact that he passed away 2 years ago.
7. Woods

Here, Mac talks about a broken relationship that can’t be fixed. He says that the best is yet to come. There’s no saving to the relationship, but saying that “he’s out of the woods” implies to him being able to rebuild his life now that he’s escaped a terrible stage.
8. Hand Me Downs

The song features Mac reflecting on his head space, and the methods he uses to cope with his own circumstances. How he’s able to live with himself and all the negative things around him that worry him.
9. That’s One Me

This song is Mac’s way of expressing accountability for how depressing his mental state was at a time, but in a way trying to help those who may be in a similar situation through his music. An introspective song about how to escape a terrible state of mind.
10. Hands

This song has Mac questioning his behavior, and ruminating on some of his more negative thoughts that he had throughout his life. This is also the only song where Mac is rapping throughout the project.
11. Surf

In Surf, Mac goes back to the theme of the song “I Can See” where he states how he can now see each of his negative observations from his own persona from an outside perspective.
12. Once A Day

On the outro, Mac states how he’s waiting for doors to keep opening for him and others. He’s alluding to how these are doors filled with opportunities to get out of his current terrible mental state.

I really hope he got to that point before he passed away...
Circles is an incredible experience. A story of a person whose only desire is to escape from his own demons in their head but being able to talk about their growth once he’s completely over it.

I’m really happy he got to do that with Circles before unfortunately passing away.
Circles will continue be one of my favorite albums of 2020. It holds a special place in my heart

We really didn’t deserve the joy Mac brought to all of us when he was here, and even since he’s been gone.

We all wish you were here đŸ€
I’d really appreciate if you could share this for everyone that loves Mac Miller and what he stood for to see this. Have a great day!
