(Don't know if you would read this or not but I had to vent all this out somewhere)

What I think about rapes and why they happen.A thread:
What is the objective of raping someone?
The answer to this question is widely known to be sexual desire. But that is not true.Otherwise the domain of rape victims would not include 3 month old babies, nor would it include 70 year olds.Rapes are about superiority and power.

Most of the males consider them to be superior to females and to imply this superiority, they often cross all limits of humanity amd go on to violate the the basic human rights of another human. The main problem here is the mentality of men(90%) and women as well(10%).

Agree or not,we live in a patriarchal society. From a very young age kids see their mother following the orders of their dad.A girl child is often denied the freedom that a boy child gets,be it any matter. This has adverse effects on the thought process of the child.

Girls tend to develope a feeling that they are supposed to become the protected, not the protector. They tend to see males as the more capable figures, the more powerful ones.Boys feel like they are the priviledged ones due to all this. The lust for superiority starts to grow.

This mentality leads to people advicing boys to "control their urges".The main thing is that if someone is getting the urges to have sex with someone, just by looking at them then something is wrong. We are not supposed to control our urges we are supposed to not get them.

Recently something happened at Jamshedpur. The horrific rape and killing of a young girl. But what would change after this? How will our minds be affected? Will such incidents stop? Will girls be safe? And who is safe anyways?People will tweet and show resistance but to what good?

I would take this oppertunity to apologise to all girls who feel unsafe in their own country.I would like to apologise on behalf everyone who sees you as an object rather than a human.I would like to apologise on behalf of our biased mentality.

This thread is not very well organised but this disturbing news(quoted in the last tweet of this thread) has paralyzed my ability to do anything.I am barely able to think of anything right now. This is monsterous.

I would just like to say that rapes portray our failures as we take up the roles of brother, fathers, friends or whoever and it is our responsibility to make sure incidents like these stop even if it taxes us mentally or financially.Something needs to be done and the time is now
"A 5 yo girl was raped and killed. Her body was left at the river side, all slit and cut. She was raped for 3 days by 4 men incl. her stepfather." #JusticeForGunjan
