DeFi : Money Legos
NFTs : Media Legos
NFTs : Media Legos
I often say that many of the goals of my last startup ( @mediachain_) are being realized through NFTs.
Internally, we referred to Mediachain as a ‘canonical content registry’ where every unique work would get a canonical ID that you could append metadata to

That metadata could be who made it, what its about, its history online, its licensing terms.
Developers could consume that info to build more expressive and rich media experiences that enable more value—both financial and contextual to flow to creators and consumers alike.

A canonical ID+metadata is exactly what an NFT is.
As more work gets tokenized, we'll get closer to achieve the original goal of Mediachain: a "universal media library"

Just as tokens and smart contracts are "money legos" for developers to permissionlessly compose and remix.
NFTs will be "media legos" for developers to build the next Spotify or Netflix on top of a programmable library of content that preserves attribution/value for creators

A lot of these ideas were captured in this old blog post from my then co-founder @Iiterature: https://blog.mediachain.io/the-gif-that-fell-to-earth-eae706c72f1f
