Thematic triad: Eren's death to the curse, Mikasa's feelings about it and the baby.
I remember perfectly when ch. 130 came out, I was re-reading by chance chapter 88, where Ymir's curse was introduced for the first time combined with Mikasa's reaction.

While a part of the fandom claimed wrongly that Eren rejected Mikasa bc a romantic subplot with another character, the chapter was intended to lead us to another way and I see some of them didn't get it.
In ch. 88 the curse of Ymir is introduced to us. We get to know that every shifter is meant to die after 13 years. EMA discover that something bigger than them will make them appart. Any chance of having a long life together was crushed at that moment. Watch their faces.
Mikasa's reaction was the most impactful there. Even Eren noticed her suffering while she started to deny reality. In ch. we get to know she even stopped eating.
In ch. 130, Eren reinforce his wish to protect his friends but showing a deep anguish bc of the curse. Zeke gets it too, as a brother wants him to have a happy regular life, so he asks him about his feelings. To protect Mikasa from suffering, Eren just rejects this possibility.
I always wondered WHY Mikasa was shown in the panel where the baby comes to discussion and I think it isn't a random choice.
And I see how Mikasa's and Eren's interests oppose to Eren's fate and duty. While he would like to live longer, he is for now meant to hand this power down and die to the curse. Up to this, something is missing.
Altough I'm herectic about Linked Horizon's songs, in the last single we got a song about Mikasa's mourning and another criptic song about an unborn child, which leads me to think that someone will be asked if he/she either vanishes his/her existence or not.
That song says "I'll ask again when spring (birth) arrives", while Mikasa's song says "even if I don't ask for it, spring will come this year as well".
To reinforce this :) The thematic progression isn't random and the connection is as simple as Eren's death and the reaction Mikasa would have to it :)
