things to do as soon as you turn 18; a thread.

- get all your legal documents in order from aadhar card, passport, PAN Card etc.
- file for license asap (ik parallel parking is a b!tch and i almost gave up on getting a license or even driving because of that)
- get a linkedin +
your connections on linkedin aren’t your friends but they can very well be your next great idea, best career experience and more. learn to connect with more people and search for opportunities
- get a bank acc if you don’t have one already and get the KYC sorted with
- get started with apps like google pay, paytm etc. they will make your life way more simple.
- open a paytm bank account and start investing little by little on paytm money. even if it’s just 100₹ a month do it. it will make a habit in you to save and also increase your revenue
- bank work is tedious, annoying and torturous but learn it. post office is even worse but get started with that too. even if it’s something as minor as getting entries on passbooks and learning how to write cheques, get started.
-money isn’t everything but it is a big part of everything. sit with your parents when they file for taxes and see how it’s done.
- a lot of us didn’t get in fields/ colleges we wanted but in this day and age we can always learn a lot from online courses on coursera, mongodb etc
- there are all sorts of internships- content writing, data entry etc which requires minimal skills. if you wish you can always get started on those too.
- in short focus on yourself, your finance and your future. if you’re in an indian hoursehold you probably won’t be given a lot of responsibilities (financially) but learn to take it anyways. 💜
i almost forgot to add... but invest in national pension scheme (nps). It is available to invest via paytm money. Anyone from age 18-60 can invest and you can also withdraw the funds at any time. as a student i only invest 1.5k₹ every month and this is the approx revenue
ik a lot of it is just about money and investing but get started early. I promise it will help. learn how to deposit cash, file taxes, monthly house budget etc. learn. it’ll be embarassing to go to a bank and ask them how to fill a deposit from buf do it anyway.
and dm me if you need help. 💜
so @JustOT7Day mentioned voting and election card and yes, GET THAT ASAP. politics isnt everyone's cup of tea and i respect that but human rights isn't politics, healthcare isn't politics and our future most certainly is not menial politics
you don't have to know every word the pm says but you should know the tasks your mayor has taken upon, the reforms your municipal commissioner is bringing and the promises your area corporator makes. voting is important, educating yourself on whom to vote is more important.
participate in every election, however local.

be a voice and be a voice of reason. and before that, be a listener who has educated themselves about our country and its wellbeing.
