Spent a bunch of time thinking about @Mythic_Society's set roulette because I enjoy weird formats. Not playing tomorrow, so here are my thoughts (threaded):
1. Flash isn't the best deck, but the most people will play it. It's not that great because it's too inconsistent: you can play 8 tutors + 8 wishes to get to 11 of each effect, but then you're a deck that spends like 7 mana to cast Crush of Wurms on turn 4. That's not amazing.
2. You can play a more Legacy-feeling version of the deck (black instead of/addition to green) with Duress/Therapy/Daze, but now you have consistency issues. Only Sleight of Hand as cantrip is too bad. Legacy decks run on having 8+ cantrips. 4 bad ones ain't gonna cut it.
3. Now that you're investing 2-4 cards to t4 Crush of Wurms, let's look at what you have to beat. From a bottom-up perspective, mana always controls what's good enough, and the mana in the format is defined by slow fetches + RTR shocks. This makes UWx control well-positioned.
4. UWx control starts with Counterspell, Spike or Dispel or Power Sink (in some split, depends on what you want to beat), Verdict, DSphere, Revelation, and CWish. That's a brutal amount of resistance for your maybe-t4 combo deck.
5. But wait, it gets worse! You can't actually juke them by boarding in creatures, because all of their ways of beating you involve killing your stuff. You can Jace, but they're going to max out on DSphere after boarding. So I wouldn't play Flash, even though it's powerful.
6. From there, the clear range is UWx control with a bunch of good Azorius cards. You can go more mono-U with AK or more multicolor with Rampant Growth/Verge/Wake to get big enough to win with Blue Sun's Zenith or similar. Once you have a zillion mana, who cares?
7. Alternatively, if you REALLY want to beat Flash, you can have black for Duress and then Pack Rats in the sideboard for the functional juke in the mirror. If you want to invest more in black, you can bring in Persecute, although I think Dispel is probably what you want more.
8. Anyway, larger point is that there are lots of directions you can take UWx, it has all the answers, and I'd expect it to win. If you don't want to play 45 minute rounds, though, I have many other ideas that have merit:
9. One interaction I never saw brought up is Rest in Peace/Web of Inertia/Enlightened Tutor. Lots of ways to win, but Sacred Mesa is cleanest. RIP also doubles as Flash hate, since Wurm needs to go to the graveyard to trigger. Problem: too many Disenchants in the format.
10. Another fun one: Opposition/Rising Waters or Static Orb. Birds of Paradise and Llanowar Elves get you a critical mass of creatures, you get to play counterspells to defend, and then you can Saproling Burst or whatever to win. Again, mostly doesn't matter.
11. Another medium-bad idea: Dark Ritual/Duress/Therapy as a shell. Your best threats are Cackler, Shred-Freak, and Pack Rat. Unfortunately, you don't have many good 3s to Ritual into. Underworld Connections is probably the best black 3 in the format :\\
12. You can go blacker with Shrieking Affliction, Stupor, and Desecration Demon, but that probably loses to your UW opponent drawing a reasonable mix of lands and spells and eventually Revelationing you into the dirt.
13. You can go redder with a bunch of solid burn (Volc Hammer, Incinerate, Hammer of Bogardan, Flame Rift, Guttersnipe, maybe even Ensnaring Bridge), but now you're mega soft to Rev. For the truly committed, Forsaken Wastes is half of a Sulfuric Vortex.
14. The last thing that I thought of is also the kind of deck I'm the worst at building, which is black-based Jund. You have all the Golgari stuff (DRS + fetchlands, Lotleth Troll, Dreg Mangler) and some good old green stuff (Blastoderm, Genesis) for going super long.
15. That deck could play a lot of a Modern-looking Jund strat (discard to bridge into Phyrexian Arena, plenty of flex removal options, quality creatures, long-game reach/recursion), but I legit do not know how to build those decks. Also, gl with Verdict and Rev.
16. Anyway, that's my take on the format. Blue is the best color, white is the worst, lots of weird stuff that can reliably attack UWx Control and Ux Flash as metagame pillars. Should be fun to watch, would not pay any amount to play it personally.
17. I'm sure @jkyu06 will make it interesting, though, plus I'm sure he's thought of this on levels I didn't get to here, so go watch him tomorrow if you aren't up for watching Bayern beat the tar out of Paris's Qatari Oil Squad.
