Today we argue that our electoral system is broken, and must be replaced by a proportional system! We must stand up and #DemandDemocracy!
[2/6] My distant relative Ellen Crocker was a suffragette. She was arrested eight times, spoke at the Hyde Park rally, and was force-fed whilst on hunger strike in prison. She took these actions to fight for a true democracy where women were afforded the right to vote.
[3/6] After coming so far, it would be an insult to be complacent about work that still needs to be done to make our democracy truly representative. After all the sacrifices made in the name of democracy across countless different movements, they wouldn't want us to stop here!
[4/6] In 2017, it took 28,000 votes to elect a single SNP MP, but over half a million votes to elect a single Green MP.

The system must change! #DemandDemocracy
[5/6] 68% of votes in 2017 were “wasted” cast either for losing candidates or for winning candidates above the amount needed to win in a particular constituency - and therefore had no impact on the result of the General Election. #DemandDemocracy
