The Face mask is known to give you 80percent protection if you came in contact with some one who is carrying the corona virus.
The Face shield on the other hand is needed in places where aerosol particles is generated.

So let’s say you work in places like ICU, A&E, Theatres where aerosol generating procedures like intubation, suctioning or lacerations occurs, you will need to wear a face shield to to give you an additional layer of protection.
