My analytical approach to choosing a GK for 2020/2021 season (A long thread)
Well, I started preparing for the new season by thinking about my GK for this season.
PS: if you don't want to read all the analysis you can jump to the TLDR in the end

PS: if you don't want to read all the analysis you can jump to the TLDR in the end
Strategy:
I preferred a set-and-forget cuz:
1-more common amongst top 10k players
2- minimizes the decisions i need to make every week which for me
3- the variance in GKs is not very big (the difference between the no1. And the no10. GK is only 40 pts)

The choice criteria:
what i was looking for :
1-Fairly mid-table GK
2- A fairly defensive team (increase bonus prospect)
3- a team with good defense
4- price between 4 and 5

To have a good season your GK should get around:
150 points (3.9 ppm)
10-12 Cs
10 avg bps
20 points in saves.
the candidates:
Dubravka (NEW) 5
Guaita (CRY) 5
Leno (ARS) 5*
Ramsdale (SHE) 5
Fabianski (WHU) 5
Martinez (ARS) 4.5*
Ryan (BRI) 4.5
Mccarthy (sou) 4.5

Teams who consistently got 9 CSs or more in the last 3 seasons combined with GKs who consistently on top last 3 seasons (or averaged more than 140 pts, or 3.9ppm):
(Ryan,Guaita, Dubravka)
Now looking at last season only we get also
McCarthy, martinez* and Leno*

the final list ordered per dependability before applying the final metric to choose:
Dubravka
Guaita
Ryan
McCarthy
Martinez
Leno
Ramsdale*

Now the final metric: Fixtures. I’m looking on 3 levels (first 5 GWs, and 10) because i didnt decide when i’ll use my first WC and i would never waste a transfer on a GK unless it's a WC:
As per FFscout season ticker, both Sou and Bri on avg has best fixtures (sou better)

TLDR (Verdict):
McCarthy vs Ryan
Looking at the stats of the 2GKs in the last 28 games
Mccarthy fares better in stats, CS prospect, saves and fixtures.
Ryan is more dependable and tested, with slightly less favorable form and fixtures
but you cant go wrong with any.

Final thoughts: I added both ramsdale and arsenal duo as ramsdale was close to most numbers, and a better sheff defence should pump his numbers more, arsenal too.
