Please don't be mislead by the argument made in the Wall Street Journal saying that Kamala Harris' mother was 'fleeing identity politics'. That is nonsense. I come from the same community, & have written about how many in it pretend they are victims when they are the opposite.

The argument made in the WSJ is precisely castei-st in the way that MAGA claims that whites are being victimised by blacks are racist. There is nothing remotely liberal about it & I doubt even Harris herself would peddle so preposterous an idea.

To recap: Kamala Harris' mother & my parents are both Tamil Brahmin.

This is NOT a community fleeing identity politics. It is a community that went on a red carpet to the United States in the 1960s because of need for 'skilled' & highly educated immigrants.

I grew up hearing this bullshit argument, now recapped in the pages of the WSJ: one favourite line goes 'Brahmins are the Jews of India.'

This hype is a response to slightly losing total power, much like narratives of white victimhood. Actual numbers tell different story.
