Spurs playing low block and counter and it’s worked already - Sessegnon is found by a lovely long pass by Dele, takes it inside with his first touch, another touch to set it and picks out the corner with his right.
2-0! Major cock-up by the Ipswich keeper messing up a pass out from the back. Hojbjerg intercepts it, Dele lays it back to Son who tucks it away.
4-2-3-1 with Davies tucking in lots to make a three and Gedson advanced at RB. So basically it looks like that is very much A Thing and not just a temporary solution to a problem. https://twitter.com/davideholland/status/1297174734036230144
Gedson is getting plenty of encouragement from the bench every time he snaps into a challenge. He has a tendency to want to carry the ball inside each time he gets it rather than trying to go on the outside but it’s served him pretty well to be fair.
Gorgeous second goal from Son to make it 3-0. Foyth with a fabulous through ball (along the deck, dissecting the defence). Son opts for the dink. Chef’s kiss.
Dele giving Gedson quite the scowl after he played a clever through ball. Gedson checked his run so didn’t make it onto the end of it.
Nearly a Son hatty. Cracking cross from Gedson, Son races onto it but toe-pokes it over on the stretch.
3-0 HT. Spurs have looked very fresh, very lively. Son (2 goals) and Dele (2 assists) have stood out but the rotation of the CMs very good and Gedson has shown some promise. Lots of counter-attacking, lots of out-to-in runs from wide players.
Hart, Cirkin, Clarke & Carter-Vickers are coming on at HT. Cirkin is a very steady left-back (excited about him). Clarke is a player I've got high hopes for but who had a wasted season last year. Carter-Vickers had a great season at Luton and is probably looking for a transfer.
Clarke with his first real involvement doing exactly what he’s good at - standing the defender up, hitting the byline and putting a dangerous cross in.
White replacing Hojbjerg who did exactly what Hojbjerg does. Fitted in a treat alongside Winks.
Scarlett (striker) and Devine (central midfielder) coming on for the last twenty minutes. Lovely stuff.
Bowden on now too. I understand there are some Championship clubs monitoring Bowden with a view to a loan. Looks like he’s playing AM but he’s more typically played as the deepest lying midfielder.
Scarlett inches away from a low Clarke cross. I was desperate to see him score if only for the Captain Scarlett #content.
Spurs ending with a nice bit of momentum here, Clarke and Bowden having weak shots but getting into good positions. And now White (best set piece taker at the club IMO) is lining up a free kick... boo, comfortably over.
That was just the ticket. Comfortable win with new signings getting debuts, plenty of youth involvement, and some experimentation (Gedson RB). Looking forward to the next one!
The hectic fixture schedule at the start of the season is going to lead to a whole lot of fun in terms of seeing some of these exciting young players. Cirkin, White, Clarke and Sessegnon are so clearly ready for meaningful minutes.
Ages of the players that finished the match: 28; 21, 22, 31, 18; 18, 16; 19, 19, 20; 16.
