Please RT:

I was a poll worker last 2 elections in Arizona

Most common reason a person couldn’t vote was NOT that they didn’t register, but rather: ADDRESS ON ID & ADDRESS IN VOTER REGISTRATION DATABASE DID NOT MATCH.

If this happens you can request a provisional ballot BUT -
Provisional ballots do NOT automatically count. Just means you get a few more days to resolve the issue.

If addresses still don’t match /problem not resolved, prov. ballot is DISCARDED

Most prov ballots I collected were ultimately discarded bc address problem not resolved. 😔
You have to resolve any registration/address glitches yourself, NOW

Common problems:

- moved since last election, 1 address (ID or voter reg.) not updated

- college student out of home state

- ppl with 2 homes in different states
- Native American living on res w no formal street names

- PO box instead of residential address

- Homeless 😞

- Subletting a room, name not in lease/utilities

- “Trapped spouse” (no driver’s license, no paperwork)

- digital nomad

- no paper utilities/bank statements
If you are in one of these situations or something similar: you need to be aware that the system in many states is actively designed to disenfranchise you.

Gotta bite the bullet & get yourself in the system.

Gotta make it look like you live in 1 place - & gotta be a house/apt.
So - if you’re a nomad or move a lot - bite the bullet:

- pick a home state

- pick 1 residential address (PO boxes don’t always count). Ask friends, homeless shelters

- now is the time to request paper copy of utilities etc

- check yr state’s voting & residency requirements
If I learned one thing as a provisional ballot clerk:

You gotta fight for your right to #Vote , & you need to start this fight several months in advance.
