8 tips to help you be a happier developer:

1. Make sure you're passionate about software development.
If you aren't, you're going to have a rough time.

2. Contribute to open source.
This helps you feel like you've made an impact.

👇
3. Get involved in the community.
Reply to people. Congratulate them and encourage them. Be helpful and constructive at all times.

4. Stay active.
Exercise 2-3 days a week to start. Use a standing desk or something similar to help you stay active the rest of the time.

👇
5. Pay attention to when you need a break.
We can't grind forever. It's ok to take a weekend off. Just make sure you don't party so hard that you have a hard time getting back to full intensity.

👇
6. Learn something new every day.
I would say you should also be learning new things on the weekends as much as possible. Establish this habit, and you'll feel like you're making consistent progress, which is an amazing feeling.

👇
7. Be open and honest about your mental health and the issues you face at all times.
Don't bottle up your feelings. This is a sure way to breed bitterness, resentment, and a constantly negative attitude.

👇
8. Spend as much quality time with your family as possible.
Remember, work is not your life. No one will remember you for the work you did. They will remember you for how you made them feel.
