The US is led by 'personalities' not statesmen. It was the inevitable evolution of the presidency & public office post Kennedy/Nixon debates of 1960; but an argument can be made that the emergence of video media led the decline in US governance & exceptionalism post Eisenhower.
The modern day US public official coupled w/ corporate media is a devil that's truly w/ you every moment of the day if you're unable to strip yourself away from the TV or a wifi connection. Is there 'good' media content-yes. But you have to filter for it & be an informed consumer
The corporate/military industrial complex is something that Eisenhower himself warned of during his farewell address. Indeed, he presaged its insipid future form should it not be reigned in. We are living through the consequences of failing to manage it.
