Also: LGBTQ caucus meeting where this occurred also included a talk by Pete Buttigieg, who is very vocal about his faith and mentioned faith during his main stage address.
Side note: Tension over “under God” *can* be about unease with religion itself, but is *often* less anti-religion than it is opposition to new traditions (the phrase was added to the pledge in 1956) that are seen by some to be Christian nationalist.
