/? Organisations that look after our natural and cultural heritage are facing challenging times and changes are proposed. If you don't agree with the proposals please don't cancel your membership, income is needed more than ever and a further loss can have a big impact [cont]
/? Instead use your membership and what comes with it. You can participate in the direction by tabling motions and voting in AGMs, you can show support to staff (when I went through a restructure letters of support for our roles were so welcome and heartening) [cont]
/? You can even stand as a Trustee/for Council/Board (depending on org) and also in local groups. Many people don't know how influential these posts are for these organisations. Don't snipe from afar but actually go in and influence. This is more than just visitor attractions
/? this is landscape, nature, heritage, people, ways of life, buildings, traditional skills, collections, art, wildlife, interpretation, poetry, views, campaigning, preserving, conserving, uplands, lowlands, jobs, coastal, urban,
/? And if you are not a member, and can afford it, consider donating or joining - it allows you to do all this and perhaps help stave off the next financial crisis.
/? I'm not saying don't be critical; god knows I've criticised & I know I will continue to do so but do it in a positive way. There are so many passionate, skilled & underpaid people in these organisations facing some potentially devastating times ahead, & they need our support
/? We would be a lot poorer without these organisations and the work they do, whether you feel it is worthwhile or not
