Time: at least 40 mins - 1 hour. Don't go beyond.

Apart from helping you get fit, running facilitates the synchronisation of your internal and external environments.

Your brain has 3 parts

- Reptilian: controls automatic responses.

- Limbic: controls feelings and emotions

- Neocortex: for language and cognition.

Running harmonizes the three parts.

But you must master the art of running

Dont just run to finish the race.

Running is a form of meditation. Learn to listen to yourself while running.

Listen to your breaths, your heartbeat and your steps.

Listen to the external environment (birds, rivers, trees).

Therefore, no earphones. No music.

As you run,

Close your mouth and breath through your nostrils.

Make deep breaths that are in sync with your footsteps.

Not easy but master this. Try 50 metres of deep breaths then release through your mouth in the next 50 meters. Repeat after every 50 Meters.

As you run,

Listen keenly to your heartbeat.

Distribute your metabolic energy methodically at every rise in pulse rate.

As the pulse rate rises, slow the steps, make them deep and long, lift your feet off the ground.

When the Pulse rate goes down,

Increase the pace in short, faster but deep steps.

Don't drag your feet. Lift them off the ground. Land on your toes, always.

Carry your body.

Finally,

As you run,

Listen to the environment.

Don't get immersed in your thoughts and your problems.

Don't allow this.

Listen to the birds, trees, rivers and winds. Let them give you a rhythm that propels your footsteps.

If you master this technique,

It will definitely display itself in your daily life.

As you get fitter, you also master how to react to emotions.

You will the conscious access to the origins of your emotions and the moods generated.

You will feel them and consciously interpret them into a finer language (neocortex).

Finer language means no anger, no insults, no violence.

Reptilian = Fitness/health

Limbic = Emotional control

Neocortex = no abuses.
