I'm excited to vote for Biden. I know, it sounds like sacrilege to my fellow leftists, but my reasoning is pretty simple. 1) Trump and the rising tide of white supremacy + authoritarianism that put him power is such a danger to the world that this election may very well be (1/9)
The last chance we'll be able to stop them using the levers of democracy. I can talk about this a lot but if you're reading this it's nothing you don't already know. 2) Biden is a consensus Democract. Always has been. He seems to bow to pressures from within the party. (2/9)
This is why he's the only Dem candidate I can think of whose actually pushed left in the general election. He's actually listened to his unity taskforce he put together with Bernie Sanders and it's shaped his policies. He still has a long fucking way to go policy-wise, but (3/9)
at least so far he's shown that we can move him. If we keep putting pressure on him, if we keep protesting, if we keep primarying establishment Dems and come out in droves during general elections, we will be able to accomplish so much more than we could under Trump, (4/9)
or hell even most other centrist dems. Biden at least seems like he'd cave to our pressure more than people like Buttigieg or Klobuchar.

The Dems suck, but the way we push them to the left isn't by sitting out elections. We have to do what the Tea party did, we need to (5/9)
vote so hard and with such fervor the party will have to rely on us for our votes. The reason we seem to keep getting the short end of the stick isn't because they think they can take the left for granted, it's because they don't think it benefits them because we don't turn (6/9)
out. Look to the civil rights movement as well. They didn't turn away from voting, instead they held massive voting drives and voted so hard and reliably it drove most of the southern dems out of the party.

We don't need a third party. We can steal this one, and we do it (7/9)
by making our voices more reliable, and with Joe Biden in office, if we get him to cave to us the rest of the centrists will follow suit instead of fighting a war against him like they were ready to do against Bernie. (8/9)
It sucks that's what we have to do, but it's the only strategy I see for us to make the most progress that we can with the current state of things in this country. (9/9)
