India and Hindus around the world are waking up to one of their holiest festivals today - Ganesh Chaturthi. On this auspicious occasion, I am sharing a picture of this 1,000+ year old moorti of Dholkal Ganesh of Dantewada.
A couple of years ago, this Ganapati was pushed down the hill (13,000 feet), atop which it sits and presides over the vast Dantewada jungle, by the Maoist Leftists.
The moorti fell down the hill, broke into 50 odd pieces. But his devotees collected all the pieces,

brought him back atop the hill again, and reestablished him back in his abode.
This Ganesh is a great reminder of our vulnerabilities as well as our resolve through ages.
