tw: problematic content regarding the movie "Call Me By Your Name"

okay so I think I just saw someone make a tweet possibly aimed at me as well as a few others, but it was well timed with my retweet from my personal account of the cmbyn embroidery gifts I've been given. I just
wanted to write something here and kinda vent, as it's really playing on my mind right now. I watched the movie call me by your name one year ago, and I haven't stopped loving the movie since. it's filled me with so much happiness, and as silly as it sounds? the characters, the
setting, the story, it has really helped me through a really rough time in my life. not to mention, the actors from the movie have made a big impact on me. they're all so wonderful and inspirational, I was meant to see one of them earlier this year before the pandemic happened.
I follow most of their movies aside from cmbyn, and the whole entire thing just means so much to me. It came into my life at a time I really needed it, and I'd never want something I hold dear to me to have negative connotations to it whenever I think about it. now, I completely
understand the "problematic"-ness around it, and I fully understand if it makes you feel uncomfortable with the age gap that is portrayed between the two male leads who depict a relationship. I'm not asking anyone to "stan" something that makes them uncomfortable. but I've done a
time educate on what the history was during the time the movie/book was set. the age of consent was fitting to what is shown in the movie during that time, and it's being historically accurate. maybe it would be much, //much// different if the movie was set today, though the aoc
in Italy is still really low - TOO low in my opinion - but again, the movie/book is just being accurate to what was the facts back then. the movie overall just doesn't focus on that part for me, personally. it's about a beautiful relationship, one I can strongly relate to because
I know the feeling (spoilers ahead) Elio shows when Oliver leaves at the train station, its something that impacted me greatly as it's what I have personally expierenced with my long distance relationship in the past. I relate to Elio on so many levels, his character, his
attitude, the way he's an old soul and is such an inspiration. but enough about me blabbering on why this film has meaning to me. all I want you all to know if that, if you're uncomfortable with me being a call me by your name fan, I won't take it too heart at all
I know a lot of you already know that I am, but I felt like I should make this post after seeing the tweet I believe was written about me (as one of the possible targets, at least) thank you so much if you have taken the time to read all of this, and I hope it makes somewhat
sense!! 💛💛💛
i'd also like to note that there's an age gap between me and my partner and that was always frowned upon by family and friends, so I really am thankful for an age gap depiction, not just an onscreen homosexual couple depiction đź’›
I would never, ever support a minor being with an adult. but most eu countries have the legal age typically around 16+, thankfully. (I live in the UK, and therefore it's 16)
