There’s no way that you can close an NBA playoff game playing through a post up center and having no guards. Just impossible in 2020

Embiid’s given everything he has through the 3 games. He’s gonna catch the bullet for this series for some reason, but no other center has to create the entire team’s crunch time offense out of thin-air like him. It’s his best ever playoff series, let down by a bad roster.

The widened lane. The elimination of the illegal defense rule. Outlawing the game check on the perimeter. The landing-space foul rule. All of these have made it a game of guards. Those are the players that you need to create looks for themselves and others in crunch time.

Embiid is about as good as it can get in 2020 if you want a post-centric center. Special player. Not even Shaq closed out games for the Lakers, that was Kobe. And that was the early 2000s. So, get this guy a guard who can shoot and create please, and don’t waste his entire career

The thing about Embiid is that in an era of small-ball, he still forces teams to have to play centers like Kanter, who are stiffs and cant move in space. If the Sixers had a real guard, they could live off drawing a switch from the center and cooking them (like Kemba did Horford)
