I remember in 2016 when Kerry-Anne Mendoza was on The Briefing Room with David Hirsh discussing Left antisemitism and Mendoza's very first gambit was to compare Israel to the "Third Reich".
Clear as day to anyone who knows anything about antisemitism why she did that.
And that's what rankles so much and what I find equally hard to forgive - the gall of folk denouncing Mendoza when they spent a whole summer arguing for Labour's redifinition of the IHRA including the Nazi metaphor. Especially that one. Yes, Novara Media did that. All of them.
The sensible wing. On any TV or radio station that would have them, as did the vast majority of supposedly sensible Corbyn outriders. Those of us who knew the consequences, and live with the reality of downgrading Nazi-Jew metephors from "antisemitic" to "not advisable" /
thought different. But they knew best. Save your outrage guys, save it for some classic Tory antisemitism, a book on a shelf or anything that makes you feel better about the part you played in mainstreaming this filth.
And yeah that isn't exactly what Mendoza did this time but it's all part of the same Holocaust-minimising mindset that is front of centre of an antisemite's thought process and one which broadcast on that frequency very loudly from day 1, which was also manifest in the leader.
For me, to cristalise the left's problem with antisemitism was to be on a Labour FB forum (the properly moderated one) on Holocaust Memorial Day 2017, watching how people talked about it, denigrated it, abused it's memory, used it as a weapon against Jews. Just terrifying really.
Well that was lovely break from Twitter. Back to the grind I guess.
