Whereupon we learn that Trafalgar, the GOP pollster in question, is doing something, AFAIK, unseen in any other political surveys.
They're weighting for "social desirability", giving Trump bonus points on the assumption of the "shy Trump voter" theory.
I have...thoughts. (1/4) https://twitter.com/thehill/status/1296796718223237122

First: how is this considered legitimate by any pollster? Let's be clear--this is a pollster "unskewing" THEIR OWN poll. And doing it in the most basic way possible, by insisting that there are more supporters for one candidate, just because. (2/4)
It is highly plausible, by the way, that a rural married woman who answers a poll says she's voting for Trump because her (very NOT shy) MAGA husband is sitting in the same room. To assume it only goes one way isn't science. It's wishcasting. (3/4)
But adding to the lunacy here: Trafalgar is an IVR firm!! There *is no live interviewer* whose judgment is to be feared!
Do they really think a Trump voter is going to fear arousing suspicion when they press "2" on their keypad for Donald Trump?
Jesus, take the wheel. (4/4)
