Brief comment on everyone ready to blame college students for outbreaks. They've been holed up for 5 months while adults whine about haircuts and eating out. So when they're told to act like adults, they actually are... think of the examples adults have set for them.
We've got open bars, and open restaurants, snd open gyms. All while we tell young people who thrive on social connection to stay home, stay away from their friends, and just interact online.
How many adults are fried after working online with ratchety internet and can't wait to go out to eat with friends? Young adults are no different.
And, no, I'm not giving a pass to young people doing their part. What I am frustrated with is with covid, we're demanding more from young adults and teens than many older adults have done, or are willing to do.
So we're in this world now where schools have to be closed, colleges have to be online, but older people misplace their anger and blame on young people, while going out and doing what they want. This is a whole lot of "do what I say, not what I do".
And, believe me, young people have been watching what we do, and imitating that.
So, it turned out not to be either brief nor a single comment, but my heart goes out to young people right now. Times are tough, as they say, but so are you.
