The NICE guidance means 14d self isolation is no longer routine. Rather isolation is to be from day of PCR test - which is to be up to 3d before admission

So routine isolation is max 3d but may be shorter

This includes for all AGPs
Which now no longer justify additional PPE
Of note the AGP list is unchanged and continues to conflate airway procedures with modes of ventilation

(Is manual ventilation via a FM, SGA or TT?)
Similarly for other ventilation modes
The new PHE guidance is predicated on the ‘declining’ rate of COVID-19 infection

The actual trend is reported by ONS here today

https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/conditionsanddiseases/bulletins/coronaviruscovid19infectionsurveypilot/englandandwales21august2020
PHE & NICE has to navigate a narrow path to promote increased healthcare/theatre throughput while ensuring our hospitals don’t admit patients carrying COVID19 who risk patient harm, HCW infection/harm and hospital outbreaks

An unenviable task.
The guidance will be debated.
