what’s a rape apologist? a rape apologist is a person who defends rapists with full knowledge of the crimes they’ve committed

1. do you believe how a woman dresses determines how she should be treated by men?

2. do you think just because a woman is in a relationships a man is entitled to sex?

3. do you bring up “but women lie about rape allegations” whenever a rape victim speaks up?

4. do you say “but i know him, he’d never do this / he’s never done this to me when we hang out / she must’ve provoked him” when a rape victim speaks up?

5. do you make arguments that casts doubt on the victims story? e.g. “that doesn’t make sense... if he did ____, when did you have time to do ____?”

6. do you think “i’m not sure...” “i’m tired...” = yes?

7. do you think just because a woman is in a man’s apartment alone late at night it’s an invitation for sex?

8. do you catch yourself saying, “but she shouldn’t have been out at that time”?

9. is this part of your dialect: “why didn’t you report it sooner? / innocent until proven guilty / he’s human, he makes mistakes / no one knows what happened though / she just wants attention” etc?

and finally, do you think just because a woman is sexually fluid / a sex worker or open with her sexuality it means she’s “loose” so any case of her being raped is “hard to believe” because of how she “carries herself”?

if you answered yes to ANY of these, you are a rape apologist and you NEED to self-evaluate. fast. you are invalidating and undermining the trauma of millions of victims with this mentality. unlearn. do better.
